UNDERCOVER MAMA PREMIUM SLIMMING NURSING TANK

From Undercover Mama's Website:

"The Slim Mama shirts are made of quality material and designed to last! The Slim Mama smoothes and shapes your belly, sides and back without constricting your chest or interfering with breastfeeding. It’s constructed of the same soft cotton/spandex blend as the original Undercover shirt, but has a 360 degree slimming panel starting just under the bust, going down to the hemline. Same attachment options & ample length as the original Undercover Mama."

I am no stranger to Undercover Mama tops, as I own one in almost every color and have worn them for several years now.  However, this was my first experience with the new "Slimming" tank.  I ordered a black and a white one in small, as that is the size I wear in all the other Undercover Mama tanks (I am a medium in "regular" clothes), and I assumed these would be awesome as I already like the regular tanks, so a slimming version can't go wrong, right?!

Well, I was really surprised that the material on the Undercover Mama Premium Slimming Tank isn't what I expected.  I suppose I had more of a "spandex-y" type material in mind for the tummy panel.  Instead, it is like 2 layers of regular fabric just sewn together, giving it less stretch and making it thicker, hence a tighter, "slimming" fit.  That wasn't really an issue for me...I didn't care HOW it slimmed, just that it did! ;)  My problem came in the seams between the tummy panel and the chest panel.  I had read that, because it is quite snug, Undercover Mama recommends stepping into the top as opposed to pulling it over your head.  So I tried that, but I also tried pulling it over my head.  Both ways, I was breaking stitches from the middle seam just trying to get it on!  I'm not "big" nor do I have too terribly large hips or broad shoulders, and I still couldn't maneuver through the top enough to avoid that happening.  It seems like in a shirt designed like this, there has got to be a little stretch in between the regular panel and the "slimming" one, because the seams in this top clearly aren't designed to be stretched.

I also found the top to be quite itchy, an issue I don't normally have with my other Undercover Mama tanks.

My favorite part of the tank, however, was the length!  Definitely not too short, but it wasn't crazy long either.  I also thought that because of the design (snug on bottom, "regular" fit at chest) it helped keep the top of the back of the shirt up.  I know that's one issue I have with my Undercover Mama tops- the back tends to slide down below my bra strap throughout the day.

Those things aside, I do love the idea of this slimming top, and I will continue to wear and buy regular Undercover Mama tanks!  I do hope they find a better solution to the seam issue on this one because I'd love to own some and wear them regularly without fear that after a few times I'm going to have to sew it back together myself. :)

I purchased this product myself, under no obligation or agreement.  My opinions are all my own...I may be a people pleaser, but I'm also a control freak, and prefer to use my blogspace for making my thoughts known, not stealing the ideas of others. ;)
